Gary and I visited Washington DC in May 2007. Prior to this trip, it was in 1999 when we last visited DC together. We attended a conference organised by the American Association of Chinese Studies and stayed for a few days with a friend, Heather Anderson, afterwards to explore the city. The main purpose of our 2007 visit was to conduct research at Radio Free Asia. During our stay, we met up with good friends, Da-chen and Randall, and went to Mount Vernon for a day.
